Joseph Soley is entering his fifteenth-year coaching varsity girls’ tennis at Allatoona. He helped lead the Lady Buccaneers to their first ever State Championship match in 2012 where they were Runner-Up. The team has won six straight Region Championships from 2011-2016. The team has also played in ten of fourteen seasons in the state playoff – one Final Four; three Elite Eight; three Sweet Sixteen; and two rounds of 32. Coach Soley was named the 2012 MDJ Coach of the Year for Tennis.

Coach Soley graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. During his time at Indiana State, he was a college cheerleader and also competed in wrestling as a club team. He has a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama and completed his Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Curriculum and Instruction.

Currently, Coach Soley is teaching Health, BPE, Teacher Apprentice Program, and was named Teacher of the Year at Allatoona in 2012. He is also the Head Coach for the varsity volleyball team. He was the 2014 and 2015 Area 5A Coach of the Year for Volleyball, the 2017 and 2018 Region 5A Coach of the Year for Volleyball, the 2018 and 2019 GACA Region 6A Coach of the Year for Volleyball, the 2019 GVCA 6A Coach of the Year for Volleyball, and the 2019 MDJ Coach of the Year for Volleyball.

He is married to Lindsay Soley who is a 5th grade teacher at Kemp Elementary, son Hayden (20) attends UGA, and daughter Anna Cait (15) is a sophomore at Allatoona. Growing up, Coach Soley’s mentor was his high school wrestling coach, Phil Wagoner. After Soley’s father passed away, Coach Wagoner was always there for him, picking him up for practice, taking him to wrestling tournaments, etc. He was a high school coach, Health/PE teacher, and the high school’s Athletic Director, and Coach Soley still stays in touch with him today. Coach Soley finds inspiration in President Abraham Lincoln who said, “I will prepare, and some day, my chance will come.”
